Student trip to Xicotepec & 175th

Thanks to Dick Colby for inviting Katy Wellington and Ashtin Walker to talk about their recent Rotary District 6000 trip to Xicotepec, Mexico. Our club helped to send these high school students to Xicotepec for a trip to deliver medical services and other community development projects.

FAREWELL TO FATHER TROY

Thanks to Kierstan Peck for inviting Father Troy Richmond of St. James Church to regale us with his parting thoughts on Washington, St. James Church, and his ministries in the community.

In Father Troy's time at St. James Church, a church building expansion was completed, and significant modernizations and renovations were made to the sanctuary.

At the end of June, Fr. Troy will leave for a call in Muscatine.

TREE PLANTING

Being a Rotarian isn't just about coming to the weekly club meeting on Thursdays. Its about serving. And we've been busy with all sort of service opportunities. Last Saturday, a gaggle of Rotarians helped the Washington Tree Committee with planting trees around the Washington County Hospital and at All American Care on Polk Street, as well as helping with the annual tree giveaway on the Square.

Thanks to Scott Lujan, John Thorne, Dick Colby, Paul Horak, Jim Mostek, Ed Raber, Ed Lins, Craig Davis, and maybe a few more.

Rotary District 6000 Conference in Ames

The District Conference was a great way to learn more about what is going on with Rotary International, PolioPlus, District 6000, and

For some folks, the highlight was the Welcome to Ames talk we got from The Mayor.
d

For some faithful others, the highlight was watching District Gov. Jacque Andrew dancing the night away with the kids. In between the Mayor and the dancing was a lot of great info.

Hannah Purner spent a lot of time wearing this blue blazer which was weighed down by a lot of pins and buttons. A very fun part of the annual conference is hearing from all the exchange students.

Next years District 6000 conference is at the Coralville Marriott.
